Every SVG file uploaded to Wikimedia Commons should show

• how it was made: use template {{Inkscape}}, {{Adobe}}, {{HandSVG}} or what other SVG creation tool
• whether it is valid or invalid due to W3C

set the appropriate parameter of the template, e.g. {{Image generation}} (short: Igen) 0 or   {{Fgd}} 0

You should check the appearance and the validity before you upload a new file: use the tool Commons SVG Checker.

Hi Sarang, I've tried to put the AusGovStat files from Category:Valid SVG created with Gnuplot into Category:Valid SVG created with Gnuplot-AusGovStat, which was impossible. May you please help me? The categorizing into Valid SVG created with Gnuplot occurs in the template {{AustralianBureauStatistics}} where it can be easily changed to another [sub]category. Its displays are somehow fine when used at the source= parameter, but looks bad when used at the description= parameter. I will set up a request. -- sarang♥사랑 22:02, 15 July 2017 (UTC) @Perhelion: ich habe das mal gecheckt, es betrifft wohl an die 57000 Dateien die der Überarbeitung bedürfen: Überall müsste einiges geändert, plus das Igen eingebaut werden. Ginge ja gut mit VFC aber bei dieser Menge nicht mehr machbar, da ist ein bot gefragt. Die Anzahl der Fehler erscheint bei jeder Kategorie dieselbe zu sein, dein script zählt nur bis 1000 und hört dann auf. Allzugrosse Dateien sind uncheckbar. Die Instruktionen für so einen bot kann ich vorbereiten, |Other fields={{Igen|+|244|%|>|s=acm}} etc. Nach meinen Erfahrungen ist es recht schwierig mit einem bot-Betreiber in Kontakt zu kommen. Cannot understand what's the problem

Copyright infringment.

• SVG Igen is very useful, nevertheless it cancels s=f and usually replaces it with s=y even if the file is clearly a flag; besides it keeps deleting g=c even if the info about the Graphic Lab is not trivial.

Where a human being can immediately decide what the image shows, it is very difficult for a tool to recognize somehow what it may be.

Igen makes only a suggestion as good as it can; it is always the duty of the editor to check Igen's prepositions and to chose correct values, and to add needed tags.

Flag of Serbia: The value for s= depends on the sequence how the description text is checked. The description contains the word "flag", and the source something with "/national-symbols.php"; the check for the occurrence of 'symbol' is done first, so the later check for 'flag' won't occur. Tincture Kategorien

Hallo, wir brauchen noch einmal Deine Hilfe bei den Tinkturkategorien.

1. Bei |ss=BY wird die Datei automatisch nach Category:Tinctures (Bavaria) kategorisiert. Wir wollen, dass auch /- automatisch kategorisiert wird, und zwar nach einer neuen Tinctures (default). Könntest Du das bitte einrichten? Ich hab's nicht hingekriegt.
2. Zur Template:COAInformation: Wenn der Parameter "tincture" leer bleibt, würden wir gern eine Wartungskategorie befüllen, die lautet Tinctures (undefined). Dazu müsste eine kleine Änderung in Template:COAInformation eingebaut werden.

Ein bisschen habe ich es schon angesehen; und mal die Kategorien sortiert.

IMHO sind die Namen "Tinctures (default)" und "Tinctures (undefined)" wenig aussagend, da fānde ich "Heraldic tinctures by standard color shades" und zB "Coats of Arms without tinctures" oder "COAInformation without tincture specification" etwas besser und zu den anderen Kategorien passender.

Da alle diese Kategorien 'Normal'-Benutzer sicher nicht interessieren und eher störend sind als sonstwas, sollen sie HIDDEN sein - Leute die in den commons arbeiten haben ohnehin die hidden cats eingeblendet.

Nein, ein Problem dieser Änderung ist "standard color shades". In der Heraldik gibt es bei Tinkturen keinen Standard. Alles also, wofür es keine spezifischen tincture shades gibt bis jetzt, soll also eine festgelegte Default-Palette bekommen, somit hätten wir gern die Einordnung in eine Kategorie namens: "Heraldic tinctures by default color shades" für alle tincture-Paletten, die hinten ein /- tragen, also nicht spezifiziert sind. Ich habe diese Kategorie mal entsprechend verschoben: Category:Heraldic tinctures by default color shades. Der zweite Vorschlag "without tinctures" ist auch nicht richtig. Denn Tinkturen (Farben, Schraffuren) wurden ja tatsächlich im hochgeladenen Wappen verwendet. Hier wollen wir also eine Wartungskategorie, denn alle diese Wappenseiten sollen einer Wartung unterzogen werden. Überall also, wo die Palette in COAInformation fehlt, ist die verwendete Palette "unbekannt" bzw. "nicht angegeben". Deshalb finden wir hier "undefined" ganz richtig. Es geht uns nicht darum, dass "COAInformation without tincture specification" ist, sondern dass die verwendete Tinktur noch zu definieren ist. Konnte ich das hiermit genauer erklären? Some problems with Igen

Me again. I use Igen to fix problems in SVG files but I encountered some problems in File:Coa Illustration Tincture none.svg and File:Coa Illustration Tincture basic Litvite.svg. In this cases the reduction size of SimplSVG has been lost: is there a way to integrate it in Igen?-- Carnby (talk) 05:53, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
